Select leader strength for the conditions; consider a bite-resistant leader for toothy species.

Check the lure beside the boat at low speed, then let it back under control. Confirm a steady rod-tip pulse before setting the rod in its holder.

Troll through the chosen area with the lure swimming cleanly. The 13-knot figure is a maximum rating, not a required fishing speed; slow down or adjust speed when conditions or fish response call for it.

Use the 15-foot rating as a starting point. Line diameter, leader, setback, rod position, current and boat speed affect actual running depth; maintain clearance over bottom and structure.

Fishing Tips

Try Bonito when predators are working small tuna or bonito, while matching lure size to the forage you can actually see.

Stagger lure setbacks and depths, and make broad turns to reduce crossed lines.
