Berkley

The Berkley PowerBait Saltwater PowerVibe Max in Thunder Chicken combines a bold red-and-green pattern with a vibrating lift and a swimming fall. This 5-inch, 2-ounce pre-rigged soft bait is built for anglers working baitfish-feeding saltwater predators around deeper edges and cover, with a top-mounted hook and weed guard to reduce snagging.

Key Features

  • Two-part action: Vibration on a jigging lift or rip changes to a swimming action during the fall.
  • Top hook and weed guard: Help reduce snagging when working beside grass and structure.
  • Pre-rigged construction: Includes a saltwater-rated hook and a pre-tuned sink rate for tie-and-fish use.
  • PowerBait-infused soft body: Combines baitfish movement with added flavor.

Saltwater Applications & Target Species

Designed for saltwater use. Consider the 5-inch baitfish profile for snook, redfish, striped bass and jacks feeding on substantial forage. The 2-ounce weight is useful when a heavier presentation is needed along deeper channels, structure edges or nearshore feeding areas. Choose the depth and tackle to suit the local current and fish.

Color & Water Visibility

Thunder Chicken combines a red upper body, green lower body and dark bars. Try this bold contrast in stained water or changing light when a more conspicuous baitfish imitation may help draw attention. Use it as an alternative to natural forage patterns when those are being ignored.

Rigging & Retrieve Techniques

Tie your leader to the lure’s attachment eye and check that the hook and weed guard are correctly positioned. Use a rod rated to cast a 2-ounce lure. Work the edge of stained-water channels with deliberate upward sweeps, then follow the lure down on controlled slack so it can swim between lifts.

Use an upward rod sweep to start the vibration, then lower the rod while controlling the line so the bait can swim on the fall. Watch for a sudden stop or sideways movement before the expected bottom contact. Adjust the fall time to depth and current, and keep the lure above snag-prone bottom. The weed guard reduces snags but does not make the lure snag-proof.
